Windows 7 Beta Testing
02-16-09: I install
Windows 7 Beta 7000 five days ago and I am pleased so far.
I have had only a few issue that I have yet to fix, but these things happen
with beta software.
I have used Vista drivers were I needed then and I believe that this the
reason why my audio is not working correctly.
Below is a snapshot of my current dual monitor desktop and my system spec's.
As this is my first entry of my beta testing of Windows 7, I am keeping it
short. Still installing software and hardware, so I be posting which are not
support yet and any work a rounds that I find.
COPYRIGHTS 2005 - 2008
02-20-09: As I
posted earlier I have been using Vista drivers for some of my hardware. The
main issues has been with my Creative Audigy PCI audio card with sound
becoming scrambled and dropping out altogether, requiring me to logoff or
reboot.
I had been using Vista drivers version 2.18.0001 but have installed Creative
Audigy Support Pack 2.18.0001 for Windows 7 or
Audigy_SupportPack_2_18_0001_W7 as the zip file is named. The audio still
gets scrambled at times but I no longer have to logoff to get audio back,
just restart my player.
This is a good sign of hardware support, way better than Vista and I hope
that manufactures will be supporting devices from at lease 2003.
02-29-09: I got my
first Windows 7 Beta Blue Screen Of Death or bsod. It occured when I tried
to install SUPERAntiSpyware, it is a free to use anti-spyware program.
Been using it on Windows XP for about eight months with no issues and Vista
is supported. I figure I check the website to see if there is an update but
the site is down. Tried to run it in Vista compatiblity mode but the bsod
returned, screen capture below.
I have other securty software that run just fine and I thought if it
supports Vista it should works in Windows 7 because they share the same
code, this appears to be not so.
I have many more programs to install and test, I feel that maybe a few of my
favorite programs will have to be replaced with compatible ones.

02-26-09:
This was
posted on the Realtime Soft forum about the capability problem with UltraMon
on Windows 7 beta.
For those that do not know about UltraMon, it basically adds a second
taskbar on your second monitor and has some other features to help in
managing your desktop.
Here is the fix so far as it was posted by Chris

HERE
To open Ultramon on windows 7, right click the shortcut, go to
compatibility and tick the check box next to "disable visual styles" or
somthing similar. Then you will be able to open the software.
The taskbar looks like Windows 2000 but it works and
that is what matters. Realtime Soft should have a fix buy Windows 7 release,
I hope.
Note that I an using UltraMon 3.0.4 beta.
